There are a number of differently sized SUVs currently out on the market. All of them correspond directly to the need of the consumers. There are larger ones, crossover/midsize versions, and also smaller SUVs. The 2018 Chevrolet Trax is an example of the latter. The 2018 Chevrolet Trax has six different configurations from which to choose from: LS ($21,000), LS AWD ($22,500), LT ($22,900), LT AWD ($24,400), Premier ($27,300), and Premier AWD ($28,800). The Trax gets approximations of 33 miles-per-gallon on the highway, and 25 miles-per-gallon in city driving. Thebase engine is a 1.4-L engine with 6-speed automatic transmission and 138 HP. While a fully capable car for lengthy drives on the highway, this vehicle is perfect for cruising around town. All-wheel drive models have also proven to be quite good in regards to inclement weather.
From an interior cabin standpoint, the seats provide considerable support for both the driver and passengers. Within that same token, there’s ample head space and leg room available. Standard models include Bluetooth capabilities, Apple CarPlay, a 7″ touchscreen, and a six-speaker audio system. There are also add-ons which can be had for additional fees. Some of the noteworthy elements involve heated sideview mirrors, a sun roof, a push-button start, and satellite radio (among other things).
The cargo capabilities for the 2018 Chevy Trax are quite respectable. One gets 18.7 cubic-feet of space with all rows in their upright position. When the back row is folded, the space expands to 48.4 cubic-feet. This is a larger space than most of its peers. The front passenger seat also has the capability of folding down when needed to transport a larger, longer item.
Safety-wise, the IIHS offered “GOOD” ratings on all five of its major safety categories — including side impact and rear crash protection testing. The NHTSA gave 5-star grades for side crash, frontal crash, and overall rating. Advanced features on some of the models (for additional fees) include rear-parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and rear-cross traffic. All of these aspects were crafted to fully aide in the driving experience for passengers and drivers alike.
There are a multitude of quality SUVs out on the market. Many of them are solid choices in their own right. However, the 2018 Chevy Trax encompasses all the traits one would want in the ideal SUV — particularly when it comes to affordability and functionality.
